You're here, so you know that my name is Kerry Buterbaugh. It's difficult to believe I'm in my 32ndyear of teaching at Whitehall Schools. I was an Elementary Special Education teacher for 10 years. I taught 5th grade for 1 year, and 1st grade for 6 years. Since then, I've been mostly a Title I teacher, although I did PE half days for 1 year and High School Special Education half days one year. Title I is a program for students who need a boost in reading or math skills to succeed in the classroom. I enjoy working with small groups and love seeing their progress from the beginning of the year to the end of the year. For the last 2 years, I have been in the Middle School Resource Room. I work with 6,7, and 8th graders who have Individual Education Programs.
I grew up in Butte, Montana. I graduated from Butte Central High School (what the heck is a Maroon?) I spent 3 years as a Medical Laboratory Technician in the United States Army. I graduated from Eastern Montana College in Billings with a double minor in Special Education/Elementary Education. I received my Masters of Science in Elementary Education from Northern Montana College in Havre.
I've been married to James Buterbaugh for 11 years. He is the maintenance man at Cardwell Schools and also has a carpentry business. I have 2 daughters: one is 23 years old and is currently working in Billings. My other daughter graduated in 2015. She recently moved to Seattle to pursue a music career and work. We own a small black dog named Zelda.
My philosophy is to make sure each child I teach succeeds to the best of his/her ability.
