    Welcome to ART!

The 2018-19 school year is here. There are many exciting things in store in the art room this year. Hint: Clay, Paint, Charcoal, Drawing, Color, Watercolor, Collages, Barn Quilts, Printmaking, Student Art Show...... to name a few!

Middle school and high school students will need a SKETCH BOOK! This does not have to be fancy or cost a lot of money. A sketchbook is an unlined notebook where you can sketch, brainstorm and keep track of your projects.

All students will also need to come to class everyday with a #2 PENCIL (no mechanicals) and an ERASER. These materials will NOT BE SUPPLIED in the artroom.

The art room is a place for students to learn the fundamentals of art and art making and learn lessons that encompass aspects of art history, contemporary art and visual culture. Students will learn how to view art and discuss art elements and discover what impact art has on their lives. They will be exposed to a variety of materials and techniques. Goals of the art program is to help generate visual learners, critical thinkers, self-regulated workers of their projects, and help build personal connections to art through hands-on experience and creative exploration.

My door is always open and I look forward to meeting all my students and parents. Please stop in, say hello and check out student art work. The display cases outside the art room will be full of student art and is a great way to showcase the many talented works of our Whitehall students.
