Spring has Sprung! (March and April)

Our middle school Academic Olympics team participated in Bozeman on the 15th of March.  They did quite well overall.  They unofficially took 9th out of 47 different schools.  Kindergarten Roundup was held on the 24th and currently we have around 20 kindergarten students signed up for school next year.  We usually will gain a few during the summer that did not come to our Child Find.  On the 29th and 31st of March we had Parent Teacher Conferences.  They went off without much of a hitch and we are now into the fourth quarter of school.  I cannot believe how fast the year has flown.

April will also be a full month of various spring activities.  Currently we have started our SBAC testing throughout our building.  We have Miss Montana coming in on the 11th to give a message on bullying and its effects.  Our 3rd grade class is participating in a bike safety class on the 12th.  The Jefferson River Rally is going to be held this year on the 22nd, and there is no school on the 25th of April.

We are filling up this month and next with class field trips as well and the teachers have some cool activities that they are planning on participating with their class.  Other than that, spring sports are underway and many of the MS students are participating in something whether it be school sponsored or club.  Being active this time of year is always a plus and I enjoy watching the students participate.

After the conclusion of school this year, many of our teachers will be coming back for some professional development on our math curriculum that will be implemented K-12 starting next year.  We will also be aligning our reading curriculum throughout our elementary grades.  Reading Mastery will be used in the 3-5 next year, which is the same program that is currently implemented in our primary grades.  I am currently working on getting some professional development lined up in this area as well.  I truly appreciate all of the extra time our educators put into helping the students of the district have the best opportunities that we can provide.  It is a great time to be a TROJAN!
