September

Well we are off and running here in the elementary school.  Currently we have all grades coming to school and let me tell you it has been exciting!  I always enjoy the first few days with the new arrivals.  It is fun to see how ready they are to start their academic careers.  Speaking of new arrivals, the Kindergarten/Senior walk is going to be held in conjunction with our homecoming assembly this year.  This assembly will be held on Friday morning September 16, at 10:00am in the Varsity Gym.  I appreciate this tradition here in the district and it is always great watching it take place. The parade this year will also be on Friday, and it starts at 1:00.  The elementary students will once again be a part of this as well.

Fall sports are underway and if you haven’t had the opportunity to watch our athletes, please take the time to do so.  In the academic realm, our teachers have been busy instructing our students and our newly adopted curriculum is in action.  I am excited to see what types of gains we will make with these new materials.  Although they are new, they are as only as good as the educators using them.  I have been extremely pleased with the amount of time and effort our elementary teachers have put forth in not only learning the material, but also incorporating ways to relate it to our district students.  Please take the time to thank our staff when you see them.

With fall right around the corner, I will leave you with a quote by Albert Camus: “Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.”  Let’s treat this fall as a second spring, decorating our yards with flowers!
