April/May 2018

Well I would love to say spring has sprung, but it seems that mother nature continues to play tricks on us.  It has been crazy as of late in the school realm.  I truly believe that the weather plays a major role in behavior and temperament.  I have thought about this a lot lately, and this last month of school can be tough when trying to stick to the course.

As you probably already know, I have been doing a lot of self-reflecting as of late.  It always amazes me how fast word travels in a small town.  Anyway, this will be my last column as the Elementary Principal here in Whitehall.  This was not an easy decision for me, as I want what is best for the district as a whole.  To fulfill the needs of our staff and students, I have decided to go back to the classroom starting next fall.  I have enjoyed the last six years as part of the administration in our district, but I am ready for a change.  While I will miss aspects of the principalship, I will enjoy the students in the classroom setting.

I am taking a moment to thank all of you for the support you have given me throughout these years as an administrator here in Whitehall.  It has been a ride!  The relationships I have built and memories I’ve made in this position are priceless.

May will be a busy month in the school realm.  I cannot believe that it is upon us already!  Our 3-5 will be SBAC testing during the second and third weeks in May.  Please ensure that your child gets adequate sleep and nutrition during these tests.  We have a 1:00 release on May 9th and the Elementary Spring Concert will be held at 7:00 on May 10th.  The Jefferson River Rally is on the 11th and we have numerous field trips throughout the month.  The last day of school for the students is June 1st and it will be a 1:00 release.

Have a great summer when it finally arrives!

Signing Off,

Mr. McLean
