Heading into 2015!

2014 - Recap of the first 6 months.
 
 The new fiscal year for Whitehall Schools started on July 1, 2014.  There have been many changes to the district since then and here are just a few things that took place:
  • July - new superintendent hired; budget items reviewed, teacher negotiations were completed, new staff members Herman Gerving and Lauren McDonald were hired, campus got a makeover with some needed painting and landscaping, Trojan Bulletin is created, Senate Bill 191 - Tuition Fund is created.
  • August - new policies put in place, grant funding from OPI completed, teachers and staff returned for 2014-15 school year, repaired and repainted bleachers on football field, new advertising campaign takes place for football field scoreboard, school board sets the budget for 2014-15. 
  • September - School Improvement Committee is formed, school safety policies reviewed, school roof and heaters continue to be reviewed and repairs needed, fall sports get going - football, volleyball, cross country, and cheer start competing, Homecoming is a huge success - K-12 Parade is enjoyed by all.
  • October - After School Program gets up and running, School Wide Title application is submitted,  teachers receive Chromebook Training and 30 new Chromebooks are purchased for student use, School Safety Plan is developed, math curriculum is reviewed and OPI specialist brought in, old gymnasium sale process begins, fall music concert, Trojan fall sports wrap up their seasons!
  • November -  school data information is submitted TEAMS report, new scoreboard goes in Tia Kober gym, Debt Service fund transfer takes place, EPA assessment is ordered for old gym, non-tenured teacher evaluations take place, school play, winter sports begin - basketball, wrestling, and cheer.    
  • December - more new policies put into place, new heaters go in Tia Kober, school audit finishes up, winter concerts take place, school buildings get needed plumbing repairs, Christmas vacation begins!
2015 - What's on the horizon!
 
Some items that will be taking place for 2015 will be the superintendent evaluation  is set for the January school board meeting, new boiler updates to system in elementary school, budget will be reviewed again and Metal Mines fund will be discussed, school safety and security plans and areas will be updated, new semester begins in January, and more ideas brought forward to make Whitehall Schools great!
