• Indian Education for All in Whitehall Schools

The Montana State Constitution mandates that all children in Montana Schools will be educated about indigenous peoples in Montana and throughout the United States. Whitehall teachers have been working over the past several years at incorporating "Indian Education for All,"  usually called IEFA, into classroom curriculum.

This year, we will be documenting our IEFA curriculum efforts K-12, and establishing a baseline so that in future years we can target areas that need improvement. The documentation process will include several points:
    1. Flagging IEFA library books and curriculum support materials for easy search and retrieval.
    2. Collecting information about existing classroom units that include materials about, by, or related to, Indians.
    3. Creating a website that includes helpful information and links related to IEFA for teacher and student use.
Holly Harper is leading the IEFA effort in the 2010-2011 school year. If you have any input that you would like to share, please contact her at hharper@whitehallmt.org.
